Frequently Asked Questions

About Contact Lenses, Dry Eye Treatment, Eye Vitamins & More

  • How often should I schedule an eye exam with an optometrist?

Most adults should have a comprehensive eye exam every one to two years, depending on age and risk factors. Children should have their first eye exam by age 3, then regularly throughout school years. Adults over 60, those with diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of eye disease may need annual eye exams. Our eye doctor will recommend the appropriate schedule based on your individual needs during your visit to our East Norwich office.

  • Do you provide emergency eye care services?

Yes, East Norwich Optics offers emergency eye care for urgent situations such as eye injuries, sudden vision changes, severe eye pain, or foreign objects in the eye. If you experience an eye emergency, call our office immediately at 516-624-3149.

  • What is dry eye treatment and how do you address this condition?

Dry eye treatment involves identifying the underlying causes of insufficient tear production or poor tear quality. Our optometrist conducts comprehensive dry eye evaluations using advanced diagnostic equipment. Treatment options may include prescription eye drops, lifestyle modifications, nutritional supplements, and specialized procedures. Dr. de Junco has extensive experience in dry eye treatment through her work with ophthalmologists and specialized dry eye programs.

  • What eye vitamins and ocular nutrition services do you recommend?

Our ocular nutrition services focus on eye vitamins and nutrients that support optimal eye health. We recommend specific antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zeaxanthin, and other nutrients based on your individual needs. Dr. de Junco will evaluate your current diet and health status to determine which eye vitamins may benefit your vision and overall eye health.

  • Do you carry designer prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses?

East Norwich Optics features an extensive collection of designer prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses from top brands, including Maui Jim, Salvatore Ferragamo, Azzaro, and others. Our concierge-style service includes personal styling assistance to help you find frames that complement your face shape, lifestyle, and personal preferences.

  • What should I expect during my first visit to East Norwich Optics?

Your first visit will include a comprehensive eye exam with Dr. de Junco, including vision testing, eye pressure measurement, and evaluation of your overall eye health. We also offer retinal scans to assess your eye health and screen for underlying conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. After your eye exam, our team will help you select prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses if needed. The entire process typically takes about an hour.
